Major national conference on sustainable travel and transport – preliminary notice

Jointly hosted by the Department of Transport and IBEC

This national conference, jointly hosted by the Department of Transport and IBEC, will examine:

§ The new sustainable transport policy for Ireland 2009 – 2020 “Smarter Travel” and the progress made in the first 3 months of the plan
§ The influence of the Government’s new transport plan on work, trade and how we live
§ Future transport networks and needs
§ International experiences and views on developing sustainable travel and transport systems

  1. I am sorry, it is hard to take this agenda seriously. This is just an opportunity for policymakers to waffle and congratulate themselves without considering the hard realities of actually providing a decent transport service or facing up to the fact that very little progress has been made in the last 3 years.
